Surah Al Qariah (Arabic: ٱلۡقَارِعَةُ) is the 101st surah of the Holy Quran and is located in Juz 30th. There are 11 ayats in this surat, and it was revealed in Makkah, so it is known as Makki Sura. It gets its name from verse 1, which means the Day of Judgment in English. In this sura, the mountains’ crumbling and the people’s fear have been mentioned. Surah Al-Quriya says that when we rise on the Day of Judgment, we will turn to Allah with our sins on our shoulders. In the Holy Qur’an, when Allah swears by something, the importance of that thing is revealed by this oath.

The Sudden Catastrophe!
What is the Disaster of Striking?
And what would enlighten you about the nature of the Striking Disaster?
Today is the day when individuals will resemble dispersed moths,
and it will resemble carded wool in the mountains.
Regarding those whose weight is high in good acts,
They will lead happy lives.
Regarding those with a light scale,
their home will be the darkness
And what will make you know what that is?
˹It is˺ a burning Fire.
This Surah focuses on the themes of the Resurrection and the Hereafter. It warns people about the “Great Disaster,” asking, “What is the Great Disaster? Do you truly understand what the Great Disaster is?”
In His infinite wisdom, Allah presented challenges to different communities, tailored to their areas of expertise, as a means to validate the authenticity of the messages conveyed by His prophets. In Surah Al-Qariah, Allah depicts people as lost butterflies on the dreadful day, with mountains like fluffy wool blown away.
