The Path of Righteousness in Islam

One of the ultimate goals for every person of faith is to enter Jannat-ul-Firdaus. For a believer, paradise is always within reach as long as we remain on the righteous path. Only Allah (SWT) knows who will be blessed with entry into Paradise on the Day of Judgment.

Yet, some individuals were so favored by Allah (SWT) that He promised them Paradise while they were still living.

The Ten Companions Promised Heaven

There are ten companions, known as the Ashra Mubashra, who were given the glad tidings of Jannah during their lifetimes. These are the individuals who stood steadfastly with the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) through every trial and triumph. They dedicated everything they had to the advancement and prosperity of Islam.

The Noble Characteristics of the Ashara Mubashara

The shared attributes of the Ashara E Mubashara include their conversion to Islam during the formative years of the religion, their significant contributions to the Prophet and the Islamic movement, participation in the migration, involvement in the Battle of Badr, pledge of allegiance to the Prophet (P.B.U.H) at Hudaibiya, and the description of their virtues in numerous Hadith sources.

   Hazrat Abu Bakar Sadique (RA)

Hazrat Abu Bakar Ibn Uthman (RA) served as the initial caliph of the Muslim community. A revered figure, he was not only a close companion but also the father-in-law of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Engaged in prosperous business ventures, he assumed the role of the first caliph for a period of 27 months. Following his passing, he was laid to rest beside the revered grave of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW).

Hazrat Umer Farooq (RA)

Following the demise of Hazrat Abu Bakr R.A, Muslims swiftly chose Hazrat Umer Farooq (RA) as their second caliph, marking his selection on the very day of Abu Bakr’s passing. Hazrat Umer Ibn Khattab (RA) is widely regarded as the most influential and accomplished caliph in Muslim history.

Hazrat Umer Farooq (RA) exemplified remarkable bravery in the Arab world for his courage. During a time when Muslims had to pray discreetly to avoid victimization by nonbelievers, Hazrat Umer (RA)’s conversion to Islam marked a significant turning point. With his acceptance of Islam, Muslims gained the courage to openly perform their prayers at the Kaaba.

Hazrat Usman (RA)

Hazrat Uthman ibn Affan (RA), the third caliph of Islam, was pivotal in its early days. He embraced Islam at the urging of Hazrat Abu Bakar (RA), marrying two daughters of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Notably generous, he purchased the well of Rumah, dedicating it to Muslims, and financed the defense and spread of Islam. He (RA) sold his shield to Hazrat Uthman (RA) for wedding expenses, later returned as a gift. Hazrat Uthman (RA) standardized the Quran and expanded mosques as caliph, leaving a lasting impact on Islam.

Hazrat Ali Ibn Talib (RA)

He (RA), the cousin of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), was an early believer in Islam and participated in all of the Prophet’s expeditions. Known for his piety, humility, and loyalty to the Prophet, he became the fourth Caliph of the Muslims. Hazrat Ali (RA) married the youngest daughter of Prophet Muhammad (SAW), Hazrat Fatima (RA), and played a crucial role in safeguarding the Prophet’s life during the migration to Madina. He bravely fought battles for Islam, including the conquest of Khyber. He was martyred while offering Fajar prayer in Kufa mosque. Additionally, Hazrat Zubair Ibn Al-Awam (RA), Hazrat Talha (RA), Hazrat Abdul Rehman bin Auf (RA), Hazrat Abu Ubaidah Ibn Al Jarah (RA), Hazrat Saad Ibn Abi Waqas (RA), and Hazrat Saeed Bin Zaid (RA) were esteemed companions of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), each contributing significantly to the early Islamic community through their bravery, sacrifices, and leadership

Hazrat Saeed Bin Zaid

Saeed bin Zayd (RA) was known for his devout prayers and unwavering faith, with many of his supplications being answered. Notably, when accused unjustly, his prayer revealed the truth, leading to a tragic outcome for his accuser. Appointed as the governor of Kufa during Hazrat Abu Muawiya’s (RA) caliphate, he displayed exemplary leadership and courage on the battlefield, earning recognition even from renowned commanders like Khalid ibn al-Walid. After his demise in Kufa, his body was brought back to Madina, symbolizing his enduring legacy of faith and integrity.

Saad Ibn Abi Waqas (RA)

He (RA) embraced Islam at seventeen. This companion of Prophet( P.B.U.H) fought in the battles of Badr and Uhud. He appointed him as the governor of Kufa and Najaf. He R.A preached islam in China and built the Abu Akkas Mosque in Bangladesh

Abu Ubaidah Ibn Al Jarah (RA)

Hazrat Abu Ubaidah (RA) embraced Islam one day after Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA). He fought in many significant battles, including Badr, Uhud, the conquest of Makkah, Hunayn, and Tabuk. He remained a close companion to Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) during his caliphate. Under Hazrat Umar (RA), he was appointed as the supreme leader of the army and led the battles of Emesa, Yarmuk, and Syria. Hazrat Abu Ubaidah (RA) passed away in 639 CE, and his grave is in Jabiya.

Abdul Rehman bin Auf (RA)

Hazrat Abdul Rehman (RA) embraced Islam after discussion with Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) and fought in the battles of Badr and Uhud. He played a significant role during the reigns of the first two caliphs, assisting Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) in governance and serving on the shura council in Hazrat Umar Farooq’s (RA) era. He passed away in Madina, and his grave is in Jannah Al Baqi.

Zubair Ibn Al-Awam (RA)

Hazrat Zubair Ibn Al-Awam (RA), the cousin and close companion of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW), was among the first five individuals to embrace Islam and steadfastly stood by the Prophet (SAW). Renowned for his Bravery he fought in numerous battles for the Muslims, including Badr, Uhud, the Trench, and Khyber, always distinguishing himself with his trademark yellow turban.

His life tragically ended during the Battle of the Camel when Amir Ibn Jhurmuz attacked him while he was offering prayers, leading to his demise.
