Surah Maryam, an Arabic synonym of “Mary is the 19th surah (chapter )of the Quran. There are 6 rukus and 98 verses,of Surah Maryam with 972 words and 3835 letters.The only surah named after a woman is Surah Al Maryyam. Surah Mariam opens with muqatt’aat (mysterious letters ) كهيعص.Surah al Maryam is a Maki surah.The 16th para of the Quran contains Surah Al Maryam.Recitation of this surah causes a lot of blessings for us. Ibn Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said about” Surah Bani Israel, Al-Kahf, Maryam, Taha, and Al Anbiya: These were among the first chapters that I learned. I have old treasures”. Numerous well-known prophetic personalities are mentioned in the surah, including Adam, Zekariya, Nuh, Ismael, Haroon, Musa, and Idris.
