The story of Ashab e Kahf – A trial of faith

Ayat 11 0f surah kahf shows that Allah is sovereign and asserts that He is the best guardian. Allah is a great protector as his attributive name الحَفِيظُ means preserver.

”So We caused them to fall into a dead sleep in the cave for many years finally.”

The story of the two gardens – A trial of wealth

surah kahf ayat 32 tells us the story of a man who possessed two stunning gardens. However, he grew conceited and boasted to his friend, saying,

“I am richer than you and have more servants, attendants, and children!” (Quran 18:34)

The man neglected to be grateful for the blessings Allah had granted him, and as a result, Allah destroyed his gardens. This story serves as a lesson for those who take worldly matters for granted, forgetting that everything they possess comes from Allah, who has the power to take it all away if He wills.

The story of Musa and Al-Khider – A trial of knowledge

surah kahf ayat 82 describes the story of Hazrat Musa and Hazrat Khider. Prophet Muhammad said: “On one occasion, Moses stood up and addressed the people of Bani Israel.” He was asked who the most learned man among the people was, and he replied, “I am.” Allah admonished him for not attributing ultimate knowledge to Him. So, Allah said to him, “Indeed, at the junction of the two seas, there is a servant of Mine who possesses more knowledge than you.” Moses asked, “O my Lord! How can I meet him?” So Allah guided Moses to the whereabouts of the man known as “Al-Khidr” – The Green One.

Accompanied by Al-Khidr, Musa embarks on a journey where he discovers that Allah grants His knowledge to whomever He wills. No one should presume to be the most knowledgeable, for all knowledge ultimately belongs to Allah. Therefore, Al-Khidr states, “…And I did it not of my own accord…” (Quran 18:82).

Importance of saying word

Word inshallah plays a lot of importance in the fulfilment of our daily tasks. Inshallah means “If God wills.” In the 18th chapter of quran surah kehf, verse 23 and 24 show the importance of this word.
(surah kahf ayat 23)” And never say about anything: “I shall certainly do this tomorrow”(18:24) unless Allah should will it. And should you forget (and make such a statement), remember your Lord and say: “I expect my Lord to guide me to what is nearer to rectitude than this”

The story of the Zul Qarnain – A trial of power

Dhul Qarnain, a just and virtuous ruler, journeyed across the lands from the West to the East. The Quran talks about three journeys he made. During his final journey, he arrives at a spot nestled between two mountains, where he encounters a community of people. They requested him to construct a wall separating them from the mischievous people of Gog and Magog, known as “Ya’juj and Ma’juj,” who were spreading chaos in the land. As, it is mentioned in surah kahf ayat 86

Dhul Qarnain consented to their request. He did not boast about his accomplishments; in fact, the Quran indicates that after he erected the magnificent wall,

“He remarked, ‘This is a mercy from my Lord. But when the promise of my Lord comes to fruition, He will level it to the ground, and the promise of my Lord is always true.”
