Az-Zumar (Arabic: الزمر) is the 39th chapter of the Quran. It consists of 8 Rukus, 88 verses, 1180 words, and 4871 letters. This Makki surah is located in the 23rd and 24th juz of the Quran. The Surah is named after verses 71 and 73, where the term “zumar” is mentioned. Surah Zumar meaning is The Troops,The Throngs in English. The surah elaborates on the indications of God’s Oneness (tawhid) evident in the natural world and stresses the folly of attributing partners to God. Additionally, it subtly suggests the idea of Hijrat (migration) for believers facing significant challenges in practicing their faith in their native land. It further asserts that believing in God’s Oneness is incompatible with associating partners with Him, leaving no room for reconciliation between the two concepts. The chapter also serves as a reminder of the Hereafter.
