Az Zariyat (Arabic: الذّٰرِیٰتِ)  is the 51^st chapter of the Quran. It consists of 3 Rukus, 60 verses, 360 words, and 1546 letters. Surah Dhariyat meaning is The Winnowing Winds. The name of the Surah is derived from the first verse, where the word “Dhariyat” is mentioned. It is a Makki surah, and it is located in the 26th and 27^th paras (juz) of the Quran. This Surah primarily addresses the themes of God’s signs in the universe, the inevitability of the Day of Judgment, and the fate of previous communities that denied their prophets (Nationes of Lot, ‘Ad, Thamud, and Noah). It serves as a reminder of the consequences of disbelief and the importance of faith and righteous deeds. The Surah also emphasizes God’s power and mercy, calling people to reflect on the natural phenomena as signs of His existence and greatness.

Surah Adh Dhariyat benefits

Following are the Surah Dhariyat benefits and rewards:

• Surah Al Dhariyat provides comfort to the sick and alleviates pain. It also brings peace to those nearing death.
• Al-Bara’ (RA) narrated, “We used to pray Zuhr behind the Prophet (PBUH), and during the prayer, we would hear him recite verses from Surah Luqman and Adh-Dhariyat.”

• Abdullah bin Salam (PBUH) said, “When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) arrived in Al-Madinah, people gathered around him swiftly, and I was among them. When I saw his face, I recognized it as the face of a truthful person. The first words I heard from him were, ‘O people! Feed others, maintain family ties, spread peace, pray at night while people sleep, and you will enter Paradise in peace.'”
• Imam Ahmad recorded that Abdullah bin Umar (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Verily, there are lofty chambers in Paradise whose outer parts can be seen from the inside, and the inner parts from the outside.” Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari (may Allah be pleased with him) asked, “For whom are they, O Messenger of Allah?” He replied, “They are for those who speak gently, feed others, and spend the night in prayer while people are asleep.”
• Imam Ahmad (RA) recorded from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, “Allah the Exalted said, ‘O Son of Adam! Devote yourself to worshiping Me, and I will fill your heart with contentment and remove your poverty. If you do not, I will fill your heart with worries and will not relieve your poverty.'”
• Imam Ja’far as-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said that reciting Surah Adh-Dhariyat increases one’s sustenance and makes earning a livelihood easier.

The Purpose of Creation and Allah’s Self-Sufficiency

Surah Az Zariyat Ayat 56 58, offer profound insights into the fundamental purpose of human and jinn existence, as well as the nature of Allah as the ultimate provider.

Surah Ad Dhariyat 56 Ayat :

وَ مَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَ الْاِنْسَ اِلَّا لِیَعْبُدُوْنِ(56)

“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.”

This verse underscores the primary purpose behind the creation of both jinn and humans: to worship Allah. Worship here is not limited to ritualistic acts but encompasses a broader sense of devotion, obedience, and recognition of Allah’s sovereignty in every aspect of life.

Surat Adh Dhariyat Ayat 57:

مَاۤ اُرِیْدُ مِنْهُمْ مِّنْ رِّزْقٍ وَّ مَاۤ اُرِیْدُ اَنْ یُّطْعِمُوْنِ(57)

“I do not want from them any provision, nor do I want them to feed Me.”

In this verse, Allah clarifies a fundamental aspect of the Creator-creation relationship: Allah is self-sufficient and independent of His creation. Unlike humans, who rely on provisions for survival, Allah does not need anything from His creation. This assertion negates any notion that human worship or actions can benefit Allah materially. Instead, Allah prescribes worship for the spiritual and moral development of the worshipper.

Surah Az Zariyat Ayat 58:

اِنَّ اللّٰهَ هُوَ الرَّزَّاقُ ذُو الْقُوَّةِ الْمَتِیْنُ(58)

“Indeed, it is Allah who is the [continual] Provider, the firm possessor of strength.”

This verse reinforces the concept of Allah as the ultimate provider. It highlights that sustenance and strength come solely from Allah, who possesses infinite power. Acknowledging Allah’s role as the provider reminds believers of their dependence on Him for all their needs.
