It’s reasonable to believe that protecting the soul encompasses safeguarding both the soul itself and its actions, with the guardian serving as a type of protector. In this context, the verse implies that a man’s soul is protected even after death until the day of resurrection when God reunites bodies with their souls. At that time, the individual will be judged for their actions, which are also protected and preserved by God.
