Listen Surah At Takwir by Syed Sudais
Surah At-Takwir (Arabic: سورة التكوير) is the 81st chapter (Surah) of the Qur’an. It is a Meccan surah composed of 29 verses (Ayahs). The name “At-Takwir” comes from the root word “takwir,” which means “to fold up” or “to wrap,” referring to the Day of Judgment when the sun will be folded up.The name “At-Takwir” is derived from the word “kuwwirat” in the first verse. “Kuwwirat” is the passive form of the verb “takwir” in the past tense, meaning “that which is folded up.” This implies that the Surah discusses the concept of “folding up.”
