The Prophet (PBUH) said to Sahaba :
“Shall I not inform you of some words? If distress or grief befalls any of you, and he makes this supplication, it will bring him joy. It is the supplication of Dhul-Noon (Jonah): ‘There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.’‘
لااِلٰہ اِلّا اَنتَ سُبحانکَ اِنّی کُنتُ مِنَ الظّالِمین
Hazrat Sa’ad bin Abi Waqqas recounted that the Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) stated:
“When Zun-Nun (Hazrat Yunus) supplicated to Allah Almighty from within the belly of the Fish, he said: ‘There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers.’ (Surah Anbiya; 21:87)
The Prophet further added, ‘So whoever invokes with these words for anything, Allah Almighty responds to him.’
Numerous Hadiths affirm that this Dua of Hazrat Yunus constitutes the ‘Ism al Azam’. It signifies that it contains words considered as Allah’s Greatest Name. It is also known as Ayat Kareema.
The para number of this surat is 23rd in the Quran.
The lesson from Surat As-Saffat, Ayat 102 is that we should obey Allah’s commands like Prophet Ibrahim (AS) did when he was willing to sacrifice his son Isma’il (AS) because it shows how important it is to trust Allah and be patient. Surah as Saffat ayat 107 emphasizes the virtue of patience and the reward it brings from Allah.
