بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Surah al Qamar (Arabic: القمر) is the blessed chapter of Quran Pak. It is the 54th surah of the Holy Quran, which talks about the incredible miracle of splitting the moon into two parts. The surah contains 55 verses, and it was revealed to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) during his residence in Makkah. This Surah advises seeking guidance from the ends of earlier nations.
Wan Shaqq al-Qamar-ٱقۡتَرَبَتِ ٱلسَّاعَةُ وَٱنشَقَّ ٱلۡقَمَرُ
This chapter was revealed because the people of Mecca did not accept Muhammad as a prophet of God. They asked the prophet to prove to them the evidence of his prophethood. Meanwhile, the miracle of the moon splitting happened, unfortunately for them, despite seeing the miracle of the moon, they did not believe the Prophet. Thus Allah revealed this surah Wan Shaqq al-Qamar for those people who over the years, kept disbelieving the prophets.
Imam Ahmad recorded that Anas bin Malik said, “The people of Makkah asked the Prophet for a miracle and the moon was split into two parts in Makkah.

Summary of Surah Qamar
In this surat Allah warned the disbelievers of Makkah who were against the invitation of Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).The incident of the splitting of the moon is a sign that the Resurrection, which Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had announced, will surely happen. The Great Moon split into two parts in front of their eyes. There are short stories of the nations of Noah, Samud, and Lut mentioned, in which they are reminded of the painful punishment of these nations. As Allah said in the Qur’an ”كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍۢ فَكَذَّبُوا۟ عَبْدَنَا وَقَالُوا۟ مَجْنُونٌۭ وَٱزْدُجِرَ ٩” (Before them, the people of Noah denied ˹the truth˺ and rejected Our servant, calling ˹him˺ made. And frightened him.)
Finally, the disbelievers have been informed that Allah does not require much planning in order to accomplish Resurrection. Because He just give a command for it, and it will happen right away. There is a time for everything to happen, and it happens at its own time when Allah gives a command for it, and it will happen immediately.

- It is believed that on the Day of Judgment, the individual who repeats this surat would glow like the full moon.
- Surat Qamar ayat 10: Verses 10 of Sureh Qamar treat illnesses that are resistant to medication.
- Recitation of sureh qamar protects from the evils of shaytan and shirk.
- On the Day of Judgment, the face of the reciter of Surah Qamar will shine like the full moon of the fourteenth night.
