Surah Al Qadr ( Arabic: ٱلْقَدْرِ) is the 97th chapter of the Holy Quran. Surah al qadr meaning in English is “The Power,fate”. The name of it was derived from “Laylatul Qadr”, the first verse of the surah al qadar. (Ayat 1), ”إِنَّآ أَنزَلۡنَٰهُ فِي لَيۡلَةِ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ” (Indeed, We sent the Qur’an down during the Night of Decree.) where the word ‘’ ٱلۡقَدۡرِ’’meaning decree appears. Allah Almighty revealed this Surah consisting of 5 verses in the Holy city of Mecca during the month of Ramadan. It refers to the revelation of the Holy Qur’an on the Night of Honour. People also refer to this surah as Laylatul Qadr, which signifies the night of power.
