The people of Makkah persistently demanded: “Bring forth the Resurrection you warn us about, and then we will believe.” Ayahs 8-15 respond to their demand by emphasizing that the Resurrection is not a trivial matter that can be summoned at will. Rather, it is the Day of Judgment, ordained by Allah, to settle the accounts of all humanity. Allah has predetermined its timing, and when it arrives, with all its fearsome reality, those who demanded it frivolously will be confounded. Their judgment will be based solely on the testimony of the Messengers whom they currently reject. Then they will realize their own culpability for their fate.
