Surah Inshiqaq (Arabic: الانشقاق,) english meaning The Sundering”, “Splitting Open is the 84th chapter of the Holy Quran with 25 verses (ayat). The chapter, Al-Inshiqaq, is a noun that can be translates in various ways, including “The Sundering”. It highlights Allah’s power and authority, serving as a reminder of the inevitable Day of Judgment when Allah will account for every action.

The surah has four sections. The first five verses describe the events of the Last Day. Verses six to fifteen detail the human journey towards its final end. Verses sixteen to twenty-one invite reflection on nature and its gradual changes. The last section serves as a warning, emphasizing the importance of learning from the arguments presented.

- Prophet Muhammad has said, “Whoever performs four units of prayer, in the form of two two-unit prayers, and recites Surah Inshiqaq after Surah Fatiha in each unit, will have their sins forgiven as if it were the day they were born. Additionally, Allah will grant them the reward of a year of worship for every letter of the Quran they recite.

- There is a tradition from the Prophet (S) which states. “Whoever studies Surah Inshiqaq will be protected by Allah from receiving their Record from behind their back on the Day of Reckoning.”
