Surah Fajr (in Arabic سورة الفجر) is the 89th surah of the Glorious Quran. Name derived from the word “Fajr” mentioned in Verse 1. The surat English means ‘’The Dawn or Daybreak’’ and it is present in para/juz 30. This sureh contains 30 verses (ayaats) and 156 words. And it was revealed in the Holy city of Makka. Fajr surat was revealved to motivate the believers of Islam. It also clarifies the bad end of disbelievers.

The meaning of the term “fajr” and its derivatives is “to rip and tear completely. Thus, in this surat, fajr can be defined as anything that splits the night apart and lets light in. As a result, Fajr starts as soon as light breaks through the darkness. Even though it’s not the brightest time of day, that one beam of light indicates that life has started. The majority of creatures and human beings sleep at night, and as soon as Fajar arrives, animals come from their shelters and birds begin to chirp. One of the characteristics that Allah grants the night in Surat Ad-Duha is death and silence (wal layli idha saja—by the night when it is saja). Saja is a sign of death and silence. Thus, at this point, Allah started this surah.
Main theme of surah e fajr
The main theme of the chapter is swearing oaths by dawn, the ten even and odd nights, and leaving the following night, which confirms the blessings and curses in the afterlife. The disbelievers were asked a question: ”Even after observing this wise system created by God, do you still need additional proof to show that it is not beyond the power of that God Who has brought about this system to establish the Hereafter?” Following this, an analysis of human civilization is presented, pointing out that people have a materialistic mindset and ignore the morality of good and evil. Regarding those who have embraced the truth that the prophets and books from heaven were sent to the earth, Allah will be happy with them, and they will be happy with the benefits that Allah has given them. They’ll receive an invitation to join the righteous and go to paradise.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘Do you want to cause hardship to the people, O Mu’adh; do you want to cause hardship to the people O Mu’adh? Why didn’t you recite ‘Glorify the Name of your Lord Most High’ or Ad-Dhuha or;‘When the heaven is cleft asunder? Book 11, Hadith 998.
