The Revelation of the Quran on Laylat al-Qadr

The Night of Qadr is a highly blessed time in Islam. It occurs during the last ten nights of Ramadan. On this night, Allah determines the course of events for the coming year. It is believed that on this night, the Quran was first revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Muslims observe this night with special prayers and devotion, seeking forgiveness and blessings. It is considered better than a thousand months of worship. Believers strive to find this night by observing the odd nights of the last ten days of Ramadan.

The Significance of the Smoke in Surah Ad-Dukhan

Surah Ad-Dukhan, verses 10 to 13, tells us about the Day of Judgment and its consequences for humanity. Verse 10 warns of a future day when a visible smoke will envelop the sky, signaling the onset of a momentous event.

This smoke is described as a precursor to a severe and painful torment that will cover the people, emphasizing the intensity of the punishment awaiting the disbelievers. Surat Dukhan ayat 11 describes that:

Verse 12 depicts the despair of those facing this torment, as they plead with Allah to remove it, acknowledging their belief at a time when repentance is futile.

Verse 13 questions how these individuals can seek guidance and mercy at that late hour, despite having received clear warnings and teachings from a Messenger (Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him) who conveyed the truth unequivocally.

Overall, these verses underscore the Day of Judgment as an unavoidable reality and highlight the consequences of rejecting faith and disregarding divine guidance, urging reflection and action before it is too late.
